An intensive four-month School and Community Outreach Dental Campaign was successfully implemented with the objective of improving oral health awareness, promoting preventive practices, and providing basic dental care services to school children and the general community. The campaign was carried out in a phased and systematic manner, covering multiple schools, anganwadi centers, and community locations to ensure maximum reach and impact was conducted ny GH Mahe and CHC Palloor.
During the campaign period, a wide range of activities were conducted, including oral health screening, early diagnosis of dental diseases, and referral services for further treatment. Special emphasis was given to school children, recognizing the importance of instilling healthy oral hygiene habits at an early age. Educational sessions were organized using interactive methods such as demonstrations of proper brushing techniques, audio-visual presentations, and awareness talks to engage participants effectively.
In addition to school-based activities, community outreach programs were conducted to address oral health issues among adults and elderly populations. These sessions focused on the prevention of common dental problems such as dental caries, periodontal diseases, and the harmful effects of tobacco consumption. Counseling services were also provided to encourage behavior change and adoption of healthier lifestyles.
Preventive interventions such as fluoride application, distribution of oral hygiene kits, and guidance on diet and nutrition were integral components of the campaign. The program also involved collaboration with local authorities, teachers, and community leaders to strengthen participation and ensure sustainability of oral health practices beyond the campaign period.
The campaign witnessed active participation from students, teachers, parents, and community members, reflecting a positive response and growing awareness regarding oral health. Regular monitoring and follow-up visits were carried out to reinforce the messages delivered and to track improvements in oral hygiene practices.
