 Oral Cancer Screening camp and Anti-Tobacco Awareness Program

An Oral Cancer Screening Camp was conducted in collaboration with IGMCRI Kathirkamam in the Dental OPD - Hospital block on 03.11.2025.
  The camp focused on promoting oral health awareness and preventing tobacco-related diseases among the public and for Puducherry Auto driver Association members .

As part of the program, Anti-Tobacco Awareness sessions were organized to educate attendees about the harmful effects of tobacco use and the importance of adopting a tobacco-free lifestyle. AMPLEDS (Awareness Materials, Pamphlets, Leaflets, Educational Display Sheets) were distributed to the participants for better understanding and continued awareness.

Comprehensive oral cancer screening was performed using standard diagnostic instruments along with advanced screening methods using VELscope tissue fluorescence and DNA  ploidy test ensuring early identification of pre-cancerous or suspicious lesions.

The camp effectively helped in:

Early detection of oral health issues,

Promoting tobacco cessation,

Enhancing public knowledge on oral cancer prevention.
Nearly 85 benefitted.
