As part of the World Oral Health Day celebrations, a specialized training program was conducted for undergraduate (MPH) students in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER ) , Puducherry and the National Oral Health Programme, Puducherry. The program focused on Tobacco Cessation Centre (TCC) services, including screening, brief intervention, and treatment approaches.
Undergraduate students were sensitized to the importance of early identification of tobacco users and delivering effective counseling techniques. The training also covered the objectives of the National Oral Health Programme, emphasizing prevention, health promotion, and community-based oral care.
Through interactive sessions, students gained practical knowledge and skills to educate the general public and workers about oral health and tobacco hazards. Nearly 450 undergraduate students benefited, strengthening their role as future public health professionals in promoting oral health awareness and disease prevention.
