Celebrating World Oral Health Day
The significance of oral health is increasingly recognized and rightly so, as it plays a pivotal role in systemic well-being. In alignment with this acknowledgment, the Student Association, in conjunction with the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Porto (FMDUP), the Mentoring Program, and the Integrated Program for Health Promotion and Well-being of UP, has decided to commemorate World Oral Health Day over a span of three days, from March 18th to March 20th.
Throughout these days, we will disseminate insights into oral health through the publication of myths or truths and intriguing facts. Additionally, as part of our commitment to community welfare, 30 students from the Integrated Master's in Dental Medicine program at FMDUP, under the supervision of faculty members, will conduct cost-free oral screenings for the entire University of Porto community.
On the focal day, March 20th, in addition to Instagram posts and screenings, we will conduct awareness sessions for elementary school students in the morning and engage in awareness activities at the Monte Pedral Association in the afternoon. The day will culminate in a World Café event for the entire UP community, centered around the discussion of myths and truths. This will include debates and presentations featuring brief scientific research on the topics covered, offering a holistic exploration of oral health.
Together, let us mark World Oral Health Day with a commitment to education, awareness, and community well-being.
