Rationale

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Government Dental College & Hospital, Mumbai, conducted an Oral Health Screening, Education, and Treatment Program from 01 April- 30 April 2026 at its Satellite Dental Clinics in Nagpada. This initiative was undertaken as part of the institution’s continued commitment to expand access to quality oral healthcare services, especially in underserved and high-need areas. By leveraging satellite clinics, the program aimed to bring preventive, promotive, and curative dental care closer to the community.

 

Objectives

  • To provide accessible oral health screening and treatment services 
  • To promote oral health awareness and preventive practices 
  • To encourage self-oral healthcare through pledge-based engagement 
  • To facilitate early diagnosis and timely management of oral diseases 

 

Target Population

  • Patients visiting the satellite dental clinic 
  • Local community residents 
  • Individuals from underserved and vulnerable groups 

Program Highlights

1. Oral Health Screening

Comprehensive oral examinations were conducted to identify:

  • Dental caries  
  • Periodontal diseases 
  • Oral mucosal lesions 

Patients requiring further care were appropriately advised and referred.

2. Oral Health Education

Educational sessions focused on:
