Empowering Interns to Guide Patients Towards a Tobacco-Free Life

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Government Dental College and Hospital, Mumbai, has organized a Workshop on Tobacco Cessation Counselling for Interns on 07 April 2026.

The program aims to enhance the knowledge and counselling skills of dental interns in addressing tobacco use and supporting patients in quitting tobacco. It focused on building competencies in effective communication and behaviour change strategies.

During the workshop, interns will be trained in tobacco cessation counselling techniques, including brief intervention methods, motivational interviewing, and patient-centered communication. Emphasis will be placed on understanding nicotine dependence, identifying high-risk individuals, and providing appropriate guidance and support for quitting tobacco.
