This event aims to celebrate World Oral Health Day (March 20) through a dual-approach initiative: community outreach and academic enrichment by improving oral hygiene literacy among primary school children and enhance the skills among students.
It will be a campaign which includes lecture, event, school visit, social media campaign, visit of dental clinic and publication
Day 1: Community Outreach – "Bright Smiles at Maarif international school"
The first day focuses on pediatric preventative care at Maarif International Schools.
- Target Audience: Primary school students.
- Activity: Interactive workshops focusing on the Modified Bass Technique and the importance of interdental cleaning.
- Methodology: Using anatomical models and disclosing tablets, children will be guided through hands-on brushing exercises to visualize plaque and master effective removal techniques.
Day 2: Academic Seminar – "Modern Perspectives in Oral Hygiene"
The second day shifts focus to the university setting to bridge the gap between theory and clinical practice.
- Target Audience: Dental and medical students.
- Content: A comprehensive lecture covering the latest advancements in digital diagnostics, the biomechanics of oral hygiene aids, and the systemic links between oral health and general well-being.
- Objective: To prepare students for modern clinical challenges and evidence-based patient education.
3. Research Component: Knowledge Assessment & Data Collection
The core academic output of this project is a cross-sectional study conducted via structured questionnaires.
- Data Collection: Students participating in the Day 2 seminar will complete a comprehensive survey regarding their current knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) toward various aspects of oral hygiene (e.g., chemical vs. mechanical plaque control, digital monitoring, and preventative protocols).
Academic Output: The anonymized data will be analyzed to identify knowledge gaps in the current student body. This will result in the drafting of original scientific papers intended for submission to peer-reviewed academic journals
