World Oral Health Day in Kosovo – Dita Botërore e Shëndetit Oral në Kosovë

On the occasion of World Oral Health Day 2026, a national awareness campaign has been successfully implemented in Kosovo to promote the importance of oral hygiene and daily dental care.

The initiative has been led by the University Dentistry Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKSUK), under the leadership of its Director, in close collaboration with the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (IKSHPK) and the Ministry of Health in Republic of Kosovo (MoH).

On 18 and 19 March, a wide range of educational, promotional and community-based activities have been carried out, emphasizing the essential role of oral health as a fundamental component of overall health and well-being. The campaign has actively engaged dental specialists, residents and dental students, ensuring a strong professional and academic contribution.

The activities have included educational lectures, oral hygiene counseling and awareness sessions tailored for different age groups, with special focus on children and pregnant women through outreach visits in schools and healthcare institutions. The initiative has also gained institutional support and visibility, including participation from high-level health representatives.

A highlight of the campaign has been a large-scale symbolic activity, where dental professionals, students, assistants and professors formed a giant human tooth in the courtyard of QKSUK. Captured through aerial drone footage, this creative action has visually demonstrated unity, teamwork and a shared commitment to oral health promotion.

Additionally, interactive elements such as the “Smile Frame” have been used to engage the public and deliver key preventive messages, reinforcing the campaign’s motto: “Healthy Teeth, Healthy Mouth, Happy Life.”

Through these innovative and community-driven approaches, the campaign has significantly contributed to raising public awareness, promoting preventive practices and strengthening the role of health institutions in advancing oral health and overall well-being in Kosovo.
